‘A mountain is an idea’ (The Florist’s Mum, 2022)
‘A mountain is an idea’ is a series of 14 tracks that were recorded to sound of a piece, parts of a whole with similar tones and textures running through them all, bonding and binding them together.
‘A mountain is an idea’ is based on Richard Skinner’s writings and contains excerpts from Richard’s essay of the same name, plus his essay “Tentative d'épuisement d’un lieu parisien”. The album also contains snippets from his novel The Velvet Gentleman and his poems “Orpheus” and “the muscle flutter”. Richard has been providing the texts and titles of PE’s songs and albums since their first collaboration, ‘all she wants grows blue’, released in 1998.
In addition to the involvement of all regular members of the collective, PE are proud to have Leyla Pillai on board, a resident on NTS Radio with her show “Who’s that girl”. Leyla wrote and performed her text “Sky above”.
